- Grade Name: KCP10B
- Insert Material: CARBIDE - CVD COATED
- ISO Range: P10-20 K10-15
- Coating: MTCVD TiCN-Al2O3-TiOCN
- Material Description: Steel, Cast Iron
- Grade Description: A specially engineered cobalt-enriched carbide grade with thick MTCVD-TiCN-Al2O3-TiOCN coating for maximum wear resistance. An excellent finishing to medium machining grade for a variety of workpiece materials, including most steels, ferritic, martensitic, and PH stainless steels, and cast irons. The cobalt enriched substrate offers a balanced combination of deformation resistance and edge toughness, while the thick coating layers offer outstanding abrasion resistance and crater wear resistance for high-speed machining. Smooth coating provides resistance to edge build-up and microchipping and produces excellent surface finishes.
Questions about this product (1)
Q: HOW GOOD IS THIS INSERT FOR MICRO FINISH?
A: As you see from reading the grade information, KCP10B is a good grade for finishing steels. However, Kennametal recommends a different chipbreaker for finishing. The MN is designed for medium cutting. The FF chipbreaker is designed for fine finishing, which I believe fits your description of micro finishing. That part# would be VNMG332FF KCP10B and there is stock available to ship. They also offer the FN chipbreaker, part# VNMG332FN KCP10B (also in stock), for regular finishing.
